What exactly is RoHS?
RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, is a European Union (EU) standard that restricts the use of specific hazardous materials previously found in common electrical/electronic components and products. These restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and can cause injury or death from exposure during manufacturing and disposal.
What materials are restricted under RoHS?
- Lead (Pb)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Cr+6 (Hexavalent Chromium)
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
- Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
- Bis (2‐Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
- Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)
